History and Heritage

History

Eglise de Poisy en Haute-SavoiePoisy has been inhabited since the Gallo-Roman period with the construction of numerous villas which were in fact rural estates. During the monastic period, agricultural activity flourished with the construction of a small Burgundian church in the Vernod sector. In 1886, a cheese dairy was built in the main town with more than 100 members. Then the farmers became workers. In the 20th century, the commune became increasingly residential.

Heritage

Eglise Saint-Martin à PoisyThe church of Saint-Martin is an example of 19th century neo-Gothic religious architecture. In the choir of the church you can admire two stained glass windows from the 15th century. It is one of the rare witnesses of the art of Savoyard glassmakers at the end of the Middle Ages.
