A city between lake and mountains
Annecy today is the center of a very touristy agglomeration of more than 207,562 inhabitants. The city of Annecy has about 130,257 inhabitants known as Annéciens and Annéciennes. On January 1, 2017, the municipalities of Annecy, Annecy-le-Vieux, Cran-Gevrier, Seynod, Meythet, and Pringy merged to create the new municipality of Annecy.
This is the largest municipal merger in France. It is located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Southeast of France in the Rhône-Alpes region and is bordered by many municipalities, including delegated municipalities: Annecy Le Vieux, Cran-Gevrier, Pringy, Saint Jorioz, Meythet, Seynod.
The city of Annecy ranks 29th nationally in the ranking of French cities and 43rd in the ranking of French urban areas (between Lorient and Poitiers).

Natural heritage
Lake Annecy
The lake, approximately 14 kilometers long, is one of the purest in the world. Swimming is also practiced thanks to the many beaches, as well as numerous sports: diving, water skiing, boating, and windsurfing.

Semnoz Mountain
Semnoz Mountain extends over 16 km between Annecy, Le Col de Leschaux, Alby-sur-Chéran, and Saint-Jorioz. An exceptional view is offered from the summit of Semnoz, ranging from the mountains of the Mont Blanc range, the Écrins massif, or Lake Bourget in Aix les Bains.

River Le Fier
Le Fier is the largest river in Annecy. It originates in the Aravis mountain range and flows into the Rhône at Seyssel in Ain. Swimming is possible but unsupervised. This watercourse is also appreciated by fishermen.

Le Thiou is a tributary of the Fier. Originating in the lake, it crosses the Old Town of Annecy, then the west of the city to join Cran-Gevrier. Le Thiou is the smallest river in France.

Town Hall – City Hall
The town hall of Annecy is located between the Pâquier and the Marquisats police station: Place de l’hôtel de Ville, 74000 Annecy, Tel: 04 50 33 88 88. However, since the fire on November 14, 2019, the town hall has been closed for at least four years. You will find the new location of municipal services on the official website of the city of Annecy.
