The history of the 7 Laux resort
The 7 Laux ski resort was created in 1971. That year, the road was built and 7 ski lifts were installed. But it wasn’t until 1977 that the first tourist beds were established. The first major real estate project took place in Prapoutel.
Despite the enthusiasm of tourists for skiing, the 7 Laux resort faced financial difficulties between 1992 and 1996. It is not the only one in this situation in Isère. Nevertheless, the resort experienced a revival starting in 1997. New investments were made, and the development of artificial snow ensured winter seasons.
For several years, the 7 Laux resort has been turning towards four seasons and diversifying its activities. Skiing is no longer the only sport favored by vacationers, who also come in the summer.
7 Laux: 1 resort, 3 sites
Three sites make up the 7 Laux resort:

Prapoutel, located on the west side. The village is at an altitude of 1,350 meters and has many services. It is the central point of the resort.

Pipay, also on the west side. Located at 1,550 meters, this site offers a beautiful panorama of the valley. You can enjoy sunsets from Pipay.

Le Peynet is the perfect place to enjoy the sunrise. The site is at 1,450 meters and will offer you a unique view of the Haut Bréda valley. A natural site par excellence, it is ideal for lovers of wide open spaces.
The ski area of 7 Laux
The ski area of 7 Laux has 120 kilometers of slopes. It is spread over two sides and rises to an altitude of 2,400 meters. The 7 Laux resort consists of three sites with 51 ski slopes:
- 11 green
- 14 blue
- 19 red
- 7 black
- 7 black freeski
The ski area also includes a snowpark and fun areas. If you are used to skiing with family, we recommend the squirrel route. You will need to find Tiki’s hazelnuts while avoiding obstacles and using your wits.
Additional info: cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the two sliding areas present in Prapoutel and Pleynet. In total, the resort offers 19.5 km of cross-country trails.

The Snakegliss
If you enjoy sledding with family or friends, the snakegliss is for you. The principle is simple. Small sleds are attached to each other to form a snake and slide down the slopes. The descent is done in the company of a guide.
Additional info: the front seats are the ones that move the least. The further back you are, the more you risk experiencing speed and turns.
The groomer ride

Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet
Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet is a biathlete from the French Team. The Frenchwoman has several podiums to her name, including four world medals. She has thus obtained two second places and one third place at the Olympic Games.
Marie Dorin-Habert
Marie Dorin-Habert is a former member of the French biathlon team. During her career, the Frenchwoman racked up podium finishes. She won a gold medal at the Olympic Games and five at the World Championships. She also achieved 7 victories in the World Cup. La Belle Étoile, a must-see event at 7 Laux
La Belle Étoile is an unmissable ski alpinism competition at 7 Laux. More than 400 runners meet each year and attempt to conquer the three most mythical peaks of the Belledonne massif.
3 courses are offered to runners. The difference is the elevation gain. It can be 2,300 meters, 1,900 meters, or 1,100 meters. Note that La Belle Étoile takes place in two stages.
Ski passes
The passes for 7 Laux adapt to all profiles. For skiers coming to the resort for the day, you can choose a 4-hour consecutive pass, a 2-hour consecutive pass, or a full day pass. More advantageous prices are also offered during the week, from Monday to Friday. But be careful, these discounts are not valid during school holidays. In parallel, it is possible to enjoy a beginner pass or ski touring.
Snowshoe trails
Three snowshoe trails can be done at 7 Laux. Marked and secured, they start from the three sites that make up the resort:
- The Prapoutel – Pipay link
- The Crêt du Bœuf, starting from Pleney
- The loop starting from the cross-country ski center in Prapoutel
Snowshoeing is a family activity. But to practice it correctly, it is necessary to be well equipped. So don’t forget to dress in warm clothes and bring poles. They can be a great help and will prevent you from getting tired too quickly.

Summer activity ideas
7 Laux is not just about winter. The resort offers many activities during the summer season. You can, for example, try electric mountain biking. While several routes are available, we recommend trying the night outing.
You will thus have the chance to witness the sunset. And for the more athletic, the activity can also be done with classic mountain bikes.
Another option is to go for a horseback ride. You will cross forests and discover a new perspective on the mountains and the landscapes of Belledonne. Whether for a day or even several days, horseback riding is an activity that can easily be done with family.
It is also a great alternative to classic hiking, which will allow you to get to know horses better.
Access and public transport
The 7 Laux resort is located 35 kilometers from Grenoble. The different sites are directly accessible by car. But other options are also available to you. For example, public transport. You can easily find buses connecting Chambéry or Grenoble to 7 Laux.
