Cran-Gevrier is a delegated commune of Annecy, in the direction of Poisy, Nonglard or Sillingy. It has about 18,000 inhabitants, known as Gévriens and Gévriennes but also Cran-Gevriens and Cran-Gevriennes. The town borders Meythet, Annecy and Seynod.
The town covers an area of 480 hectares at an altitude of between 445 and 525 metres. The Thiou river flows through the town centre in the Chorus district.
Cran-Gevrier was born from the joining of two hamlets in 1902: Cran and Gevrier.
The town has various quality public cultural facilities.
Cultural centre: La Turbine
An interactive and fun space of 1,000 m², La Turbine offers a media library, a cinema and the CCSTI. Playful and scientific exhibitions are regularly organised. For example, in 2021, the exhibition “Electrosound, behind the scenes of sound” offered visitors the chance to go behind the curtain of a concert stage. More than 15 experiments allow visitors to understand the secrets of sound with its physics, characteristics and the history of music.
The Turbine cultural centre is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. It is located in the centre of Cran-Gevrier, at the level of the Chorus square.

The Renoir library is located on avenue Auguste Renoir. It is adjacent to the school, the nursery and the auditorium. The library welcomes you every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon to read or borrow one of the 15,000 books available.
Music School : EPM
The EPM“Espace des Pratiques Musicales” is a music school which welcomes children from 5 years old and adults for courses and initiation to music and instrument practice.
The school is located at 22 bis avenue Germain Perréard in the Iles district.
The games library of Cran-Gevrier allows children, teenagers or adults to have fun and play many games together. All the games and toys in the toy library can be borrowed for a fortnight. It is located at 23 avenue des Harmonies in the heart of the town centre.
Le Théâtre des Collines
This facility is composed of three sites: the Rabelais theatre in Meythet, the Renoir theatre and the Espace des Forges. The Renoir Theatre is used to host artists in residence. It has a large stage on the same level which encourages interaction with the public. The Espace des Forges allows the development of citizen initiatives.

Monuments and historical heritage
The church of the Sacred Heart of Mosinges
Designed by the architects Maurice Novarina and Claude Fay, the church has a concrete wall set with coloured glass on each side of the building. The beautiful tapestry by Bazaine is above the altar.
The chapel of Gevrier
It was built on the ruins of the old 11th century Romanesque church, then dedicated to Notre-Dame de Grâce in 1866 and to Notre-Dame de La Salette in 1933.
The Brassilly turbine
In 2004, to celebrate the arrival of electricity, the town recovered the turbine from the Brassilly hydroelectric plant and installed it on the banks of the Thiou.
Markets in Cran-Gevrier
This municipality of Annecy offers two weekly markets. The Chorus market, next to the town hall, takes place every Thursday from 7am to 1pm. The Vallon market takes place in this district every Sunday at the same times.
