Geography and History

La chèvrerie de ChoisyThis small commune of Haute-Savoie borders on La Balme-de-Sillingy. The surface area of the commune is 70% agricultural land and 20% forest. Its territory is located between the Petites Usses stream and the Mandallaz mountain. The climate is mountainous, but Choisy benefits from a good amount of sunshine.

Historically, its name comes from a derivative of the Gallo-Roman domain Cauciacum. Later, Choisy became part of the historic province of the States of Savoy. A fortified house was mentioned in 1479. The Choisy castle was built in 1559. The lordship of Choisy then passed to the Conzié family until the Revolution. The population then declined over time. The proximity of Annecy attracts a part of the population. Since 1975, the number of inhabitants has increased regularly.
